Something about Mount Huangshan

Huangshan, literally Yellow Mountain, refers to a well-known mountain range in Huangshan City in the southern of Anhui Province. It is a shrine of the Taoism with many historical and cultural relics on it. It is lauded as the king of the mountain under the heaven and ranks the 2nd of the top ten mountains in China. Poets and celebrities in history, such as Li Daoyuan, Li Bai and Xu Xiake used to leave their footprints and articles here in praise of this holy mountain. As a breath-taking attraction, Huangshan was elected as one of the best tourist destination of China, and inscribed the World Natural and Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in December of 1990.

Huangshan is originally called Yishan, which is then changed into Huangshan in AD 747 by Li Longji, a famous emperor in Tang Dynasty, in honor of Huangdi (Yellow Emperor), the first ancestor of Han Chinese. Huangshan rolls up every kind of beauty of different mountains in China into one. Above all, it is well known for its pine trees, sunsets, picturesque peaks, hot spring and the view of clouds from above. They are the breath-taking works of arts by our nature, and there is only one Chinese saying can describe the reputation of Mount Huangshan – “after seeing the Five Holy Mountains, others are nothing; but after seeing Mount Huangshan, the five are secondary.”
